The mail brings relief for icebound Finns

It's not easy to remain upright when the ground beneath your feet turns to ice. So it's no surprise to learn that in sub-zero Finland around 20,000 people injure themselves on icy pavements each year. The average cost of a slip is €11,000.

So this year, the Finnish Association for People with Physical Disabilities (FAPPD) came up with an imaginative safety campaign. It mailed out bags of sand for people to scatter on their doorsteps and paths.

A bag of gritty sand is not the easiest thing to mail. The FAPPD had a few ideas of their own, but with our guidance they found a product that was perfect for the challenge. Our robust Tyvek® C5 pockets delivered every grain of sand with ease. And bold 4+4 colour overprinting helped hammer home the safety message.

An archive folder from expandable envelopes

If you love the tips in our Wrapping Blog, you'll need somewhere to store them. Here it is – an expanding archive folder made from expandable envelopes. Just glue them together and decorate in whatever way you like. If you're really organised, add a tab to each leaf so you know what goes where.

There's plenty of room in your archive folder because there's plenty of room in an expander. That's what they're good for – fat bundles of documents that won't fit in an ordinary envelope. They look and feel professional, they come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, and you can print them with your own message.

The joy of Valentine's Day wrapped in bubbles

These fabulous Valentine's Day bubble bags may not have been sealed with a kiss (simple peel-and-seal does a better job), but the recipient is unlikely to notice. The message of love is clearly spelled out in the joyful, swirling design created for the Swedish post office.

This exuberant bag is an example of how packaging can tell the whole story. It hardly matters what you wrap between those soft, protective layers, the bag's arrival is enough to stir a lover's heart.

We'd love to know what secret Valentine surprise you'd send in a bag like this, but we're too polite to inquire. Instead we'll ask what brand or seasonal message or event you would celebrate in packaging. If you can think of it, we can produce it – and to the same stunning quality. Call your local sales team to find out how.

Pin up your own treat-filled Christmas calendar

This December, you can make every day special with a simple Christmas calendar. All you need is a bundle of gift bags and a bit of imagination. The bags can be plain or patterned, off-the-shelf or bespoke. Just add the numbers and a bit of seasonal glitter or ribbon – or maybe cut-outs from last year's Christmas cards.

Then fill your bags with the sort of treats that children (or adults) love, and string them up in your home (or office). Your Christmas calendar will be the first thing everyone heads for in the morning.

Of course the best source of plain or brightly coloured gift bags is Bong. Retailers love them; shoppers adore them. They turn a simple shopping trip into a theatrical event.
